This was a picture on a recent trip to the beach and as I was editing it I couldn't help but see how the Sand Pipers were ever so vigilant in watching the waves out of the corner of their eyes while picking in the sand for their food.
The one above and the following ones were taken today while walking on the beach. It was not a beautiful day but like us they still had to work for their meals.
The birds surely had their eyes on the approaching waves of water as they worked for their dinner. At any minute, they could be washed away had they not. They have been given a special ability to know when the waves are too close or too deep and to run to safety.
I wonder if we use the same good judgement that the birds do. We just work away day in and day out so focused on what we are doing that often danger is just a few feet away. The danger can be physical, emotional, or spiritual.
This day in time, we need to be more diligent in protecting ourselves. Much more so than in years gone by. Some examples, a parking garage, grocery shopping (protecting your purse that it’s not stollen), parking lots in general, and the list goes on…
Emotional protection is necessary…Do we allow dysfunctional and unhealthy people into our lives and allow them to confuse us about healthy boundaries.
And what about spiritual. Do we get so focused on the physical side of life that we ignore our spiritual health. God made us to have three parts and pretending that either one of them is not important keeps us from living up to our full potential..
I love that nature can teach us so much if we will only listen and pay attention. Every time I see or think of a sandpiper now I will think of the innate gifts we are given to live a better and safer life. I will not ignore the warnings in my spirit that may be prompting me to take action.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs and blessings,
